Background
26-year old David started off his poker career as a dealer,
learning from those he dealt to - including Black Belt Neil
Channing - over the course of a two-year period. Although a player
himself since early 2009, he quit his job and turned pro in May,
2011, before commencing a full-time career that would ultimately
lead him to become a Black Belt Poker sponsored pro.
Although he's comfortable dipping his toes into six-max, David's a
rare breed in that his bread and butter is full-ring cash. Most of
his time is spent grinding the $0.25/50 to $1/2 tables, but he is
also an advocate of taking shots, and sometimes dives into stakes
as high as $5/10 when the iron is hot. However, David's focus is
the dollar rather than the glory, and when the aquarium is bare,
he'll quite happily drop down to his previous stakes.
Credentials
David is the UK's best kept secret. A silent assassin of sorts,
he worked doggedly to reach Blue Belt, eventually achieving that
feat in October, 2011. In an interview with Black Belt Poker, he
alluded to his desire to become more of a fixture on the live felt
despite venue-restrictions as a former G-Casino dealer, and in only
his first event as a Black Belt Poker sponsored pro, he came fourth
in the 2011 London Calling Main Event at the Fox Poker Club. For
someone who'd rarely played live, he showcased the composure and
skillset of a seasoned veteran.
Meanwhile, it's business as usual for David at the virtual felt.
Since turning pro, he has quickly become one of the most
consistent, and hard-working players in the country, playing daily
with incredible success and quietly forming a graph that would make
even Dusty Schmidt look temperamental. David is a committed and
dedicated grinder who epitomises the term 'poker pro'.
