For those who aren't already aware, Black Belt Poker host a League every Tuesday at 8.30pm. The League is a $5+0.50 No Limit Hold'em freezeout and is run over eight legs with the overall winner/s receiving a star prize. Other members of the top 10 earn Belt Points.

If you would like to participate, then simply locate the tournament under 'Scheduled' > 'Black Belt Tournaments' and select register. You can also purchased a token for the event in the Black Belt Poker Store using Spending Points, or, if you are Orange or Purple Belt, earn free entry via the monthly Season Ticket Giveaway Freeroll.

We had a brilliant idea at Black Belt this week and we spent some time excitedly talking about it in the office...

...We are thinking of holding a quarterly tournament exclusive to BBP players.

The buy-in will be $250 which should be big enough to attract some infrequent big-hitters who we don't always see on the site and to encourage all of our pros to play. That'll be great as we'll put bounties on them.

Seats will be up for grabs in regular satellites held at least twice a week and we'll have free seats in the Orange Belt freerolls.

We'll be looking to give loads of our community members the chance to play by running masses of satellites and giving away loads of seats by having very generous guarantees.

Does everyone think this is a good idea as we're not really sure?

As a general thing we don't fare too well on Sundays. You would think it would be our busiest and best day of the week but it is usually 3rd or 4th. I think many players are distracted by the stuff that Stars are doing (the mtt pros), while the cash grinders have a day "off" and play mtts while the recreational players do other things. I don't see a lot of players really doing a BBP Sunday schedule, they are more likely to add an iPoker event to their Stars schedule. Maybe we suffer because the network doesn't have synchronised breaks.

We are probably leaning towards doing a quarterly event but starting it on a Thursday. Monday-Thursday is less likely to clash with live events for players and we have stuff going on earlier in the week so we thought Thursday might be the best day.

We'll announce details in a week or so.

Neil says "Maybe we suffer because the network doesn't have synchronised breaks.". It would generate so much more people if they did have these breaks (that would say just be coincedence be the same as ps). Would make life so much easier for the players and therefore more profitable for ipoker. What are they waiting for, ewvewn my cats, both of them, think it just makes sense.

Given my goal to retain my Orange belt this month I've got a general question about the Community points.

Who determines if posts are constructive and how are they logged? Also if you do meet the qualification when do the points get awarded to your account?

The little zen box is a pointer to how committed you are to the community, the more constructive posts you make the higher your colour becomes.
There does not seem to be a guideline to how the colour of the box is achieved but it seems to be that if you are active then the box colour will get better.
Better for your belt to be a higher colour than your box. lol

I think that just posting on the site and being part of the community is +EV and therefore the points added is even more gravy to what you get.

Looking for advice/help from the great BBP community on how to generate belt points to maintain Orange belt. What level at the cash tables should I be looking to play?

I've been trying two tables at micro stakes which doesn't seem to generate much, so trying to figure out what would be an optimum level to play and what period of time it will take so I can work out hrs/day I would need to be playing at.

If there are any articles or blogs that I can refer to can you please let me have the links?

Already planning on playing all the league games to secure the added value 200 points which will be a big help, but any advice welcomed.

Looks like you made it Jon, hopefully it wasn't too much of a struggle. Hopefully you'll be qualifying for "Grab a Grand".

For anyone who hasn't maintained there is always this month to start your run of three months of Orange and above to qualify for the second Grab a Grand.

Ok, so I managed to maintain orange with a bit of a push to make 270 points in 4or5 day and this left me with a micro roll of $10.69 from $150 deposits since friday 27th January 2012.

So this month i am going to grind out low level plo8 tables up to $0.10/$0.20 until I get my microroll up to $50-$75......I hope this helps me go back to basics and learn the game over again....

Chris is right - forget the points totally - it takes over your thinking
Also, just as a rule - bankroll is 50 full buy ins at a level, minimum, so if the maximum table buy in is $10.00 (e.g. 5c/10c level) then you should have a roll of $500.00 miminum. If you are below this then keep to lower stakes.
If you stick to this rule, and play good (even ABC) poker you should find variance does not have too big an impact.
Now if only I could follow my own advice!!!

3rd evening done for the month and 1 more hour and 74 hands later up $6.41 and rake of $3.04.....It was one of those session down down down down and then got it in bad holding 5K29(two hearts) against christy2204(who i think is christie ellis) but i might be wrong 4JQA(two spades) and another person 6357(two diamonds) .......flop comes Q43(two hearts) turn is 3 and river is A(hearts) to complete me flush and wheel for $28.45 pot ........

Thanks for the advice on the bankroll info .....just never been a person to stick to one level for a long time guess this is why i am bust all the time

At least my miniroll is moving the correct way at the moment $10.69 to $28.45 (in three sessions - 436 hands)

All brm is personal. If you want to "go pro" then having a sensible brm is very imp[ortant but if you are a recreational player then you can be alot more flexible. After all it is your money and you can do what you want with it.

Ok , here is a topic for your views and thoughts. (May have been done before).

How do you act in a rebuy/addon tournament?

Do you -
1. Rebuy straight away and start with a deep stack.
2. Wait a few levels , to try and get a read on your table and then maybe rebuy for your stack to coincide with average stack.
3. Play LAG or even TAG to get that early double up that you dont need the rebuy.
4. Not to rebuy at all , and to get to the addon.

Your views and thoughts please.

Take the rebuy straight away again for me. But I tend to set as budget for the tourney and not go over it. This is also about brm as well.

Rebuy at start, maybe one rebuy along the way if I am feeling good about the game, 5,6,7 rebuys if I am #@#@#@ed off with the Eurodonkeys that keep badbeating me ;-) luckily only happens once in a while, I soon realise what a bad move that was for my bankroll !!!
Very rarely do I not take the addon, only if I have a seriously decent stack!
