Neil / Warren ....

Whats the plan with Vegas this year? Is there going to be a house again ?
Just want to actually be organised for once - so if there isn't a house can sort out an apartment or whatever well in advance so we don't have to pay big price last minute .....

The honest answer is that it's undecided yet. It's a large investment for the company, so requires deliberation, and it's also hard to predict what funding will be available when we're still quite a few months away. However, as soon as a decision is made, we'll let you know.

Ok finally heard back from Kirsty and here is the scoop.

You can buy in with cash on the day BUT if you want to play 1B you have to let me know TODAY so she can reserve you a seat as there are only 30 seats for that day left.

I'm considering going to Manchester for the £500 side event in a few Saturday's time. I've never played a GUKPT estival before though so do these side events - that take place while the main is going on - get enough runners to be worthwhile?

I guess I'm looking for 70+ players and about £10k+ up top or something.

Where have you found the schedule of events? I can't see it myself. The £500 events are usually before the ME not during and last year the corresponding event got 67 runners with the winner getting £10.7k.

It was on the Welcome To Blue Belt email from BBP. Not sure if I saw it on the GUKPT website too but I guess it'll be up there eventually.

Spoke to the poker room yesterday and she says they're expecting a sell-out for it of about 200 players. I suspect she was bluffing me. Still, should be a good tourney. I'll hopefully be there - get involved!

EDIT: now gonna play the £550 Asian Poker Tour event at Fox Club on the same weekend instead. I'm guessing it will probably get a slightly bigger field and probably be softer too.

Grrr, I'd have liked to but can't really justify going over there now when I'll be playing Galway and Dublin UKIPTs pretty soon. Playing the £300 Fox Main Event instead.

Enjoy WPT and good luck - a ton of PKR qualifiers are in the field so it should be a lot softer than usual :)

I've tried this a couple of times and I always give up 3 hands in. It's easy if you're gus and can just mumble into a dictaphone in Danish but it's annoying to have to keep stepping away from the table.

What do think are the most important points to consider when playing 200 or more big blinds deep in an online cash game when you get involved with another player similarly deep stacked?

Nice hand this, I think Ross was right in his earlier post that ID'ing players who are scared of deep stacked spots is vital. Having this read, I think the key to this hand is raising the flop. 100bb deep I much prefer flatting the flop and then raising the turn, as this balances much better with how I want to play my sets on this board.

200bb deep, raising the flop is much better I think as it really starts to leverage stacks early, and gets villain twitching straight away, as he will not only worry about sets, but know that any 4,6,7,9,T or Q completes a straight, and they can end up stacking off into the nuts. Also, and I think just as key, is that if we flat the flop, we allow a scared villain to pot control he turn, and happily check call us down for 2 streets as he knows he's not risking his whole stack.

This hand also shows how huge position is in deep stack spots, I know myself I always feel nervous when I'm flatted by a competent opponent IP deep, and I think it's important to remember your opponents will be feeling the same way.

As for your opponent here, it would be interesting to know what he folded, the King is an interesting card also, and it's hard to know what to make of it, as AA/KK make up a big part of his range by the river (KJ looms a little also), but a weak player might see it as a scare card, so it could be good for you. I think in these spots vs good players OOP you sometimes have to take a game theoretic stance and just call the top of your range, especially as all the draws bricked out, which for me here I guess would be QQ+, maybe AA+, but I definitely wouldn't like it and it's probably -EV in a vacuum but I think it's essential to show good villains you won't be run over in these spots.

It's a good question; definitely a topic that I think people struggle with, and the reason why I asked Simon Mairs if he'd do a Dojo Session on playing deeper stacks. I think my issue is that I don't really know how to play my smaller pairs when faced with bigger stacks. i.e. how to play to a raise in the blinds, when to set-mine, facing a three-bet, etc. Maybe it's just maths. If anyone has any general thoughts on this, then I'd appreciate it.

It's obviously been a crazy few days for poker.

I do plan to have some long chats with the people within the company in the next 24 hours and I don't want to make too many comments until then.

I have been catching-up with stuff and doing some reading in between Big Game sessions though.

I thought it would be nice to have some discussion here though (now you guys have found this board).

Here are some interesting links I found. They are in reverse chronological order so maybe you should start at the bottom:

So what was the verdict on Cannes this year? Was it a total franco-fish-fest that injected value into the WSOPE? Or was it pretty much the same pound for pound toughest field of the year but with added travel expenses and French rake? Somewhere in between?

Didn't play the ME so can't comment but the 1k and 1500 plo 6max were fishy as sturgeon. The 5k plo was mixed but still plenty of value. Cash games were reported to be highly beatable - i think the high rake puts off lots of the better players. Cannes itself was lovely and sunny - lots of rip off pricing but made a nice change from leicester sq.

I would be interested in the views of those who have been on TV feature tables about the 30 minute and 15 minute delayed feeds of the WSOP. How do you feel about players being fed information during play? Sam Holden talks about it in his interview in this month's Poker Player magazine and Matt Giannetti also discusses it in the latest 2+2 Pokercast. Matt says it changes the game but the general view seems to be that everyone has access to the same information so there is no advantage.

I was watching the PartyPoker Big Game feed earlier this year when they took away everyones mobiles but I don't know how strictly the ban was enforced later in the game or indeed whether the ban was to stop information being passed or for TV reasons.

They did that when i went to watch Seth play the poker million too. It's a lot easier when there's a controlled TV studio in which to segregate the players.

I think the WSOP has found a pretty good compromise by only revealing cards if we see a flop. Protects people's opening ranges somewhat which is where the info could affect the dynamic the most.

As a player I'd generally prefer if my cards were never shown on a live stream, but as someone who relies on the prosperity of the poker industry as a whole, I think the live streams this summer were ground breaking and excellent for the game.
