Kevin Williams travels to Vegas to support his percentage/Sam Holden in the WSOP Main Event.
Sam Holden

I’ve never looked forward to a Vegas trip as much as this one. It’s rare to go to that place with such unadulterated optimism, but this was like the ultimate freeroll. I probably haven’t strung many sentences together since July that haven’t included some kind of brag about having one percent of November Niner Sam Holden, let alone blog posts, but just in case anyone has been living under a rock, Sam was one of a several people I swapped with/bought a piece of during this year’s WSOP Main Event.

Normally, the excitement of a trip to Sin City is somewhat marred by an internal lecture about avoiding distractions; beating the ‘Vegas Tax’ of meals, taxis and nights out; and generally hoping you don’t go broke before the end and have to come home early. Being professional is usually high on the agenda on the plane ride over (a concept fully embraced by Jamie Burland one year when he ticked the ‘Primary Purpose of Trip: Business’ box on the customs card before I pointed out that that question had immigration implications, and wasn’t just the US government being curious about how seriously he took his poker). This time was different though: five days in Vegas and the prospect of a $90K upswing without touching a card. Life was sweet.

As it happens...
